Sin, Curses, & Traumas

By Daniel Gilmour

The battles we face aren’t always seen, yet their effects run deep—shaping hearts, families, and generations. But Christ’s victory still breaks every chain.

When we allow the Holy Spirit to expose hidden sins, heal old wounds, and renew our minds, true freedom begins to flow.

This journey will strengthen your spirit, cleanse your foundations, and empower you to walk in the wholeness Jesus already secured for you.

Sin and Personal Choices

1 Corinthians 6:18 AMPC
“Shun immorality and all sexual looseness [flee from impurity in thought, word, or deed]. Any other sin which a man commits is one outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.”

Ephesians 5:18 AMPC
“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit.”

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 AMPC
“There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or daughter pass through the fire, or who uses divination, or is a soothsayer, or an augur, or a sorcerer,
Or a charmer, or a medium, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord; and it is because of these abominable practices that the Lord your God is driving them out before you.”

Rebellion, Anger, and Forgiveness

1 Samuel 15:23 AMPC
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim (household good-luck images). Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.

James 4:7 AMPC
So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you.

Ephesians 4:31-32 AMPC
Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind).
And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you.

Generational Sin and Spiritual Freedom in Christ

Exodus 20:5 AMPC
You shall not bow down yourself to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me,

Deuteronomy 23:2 AMPC
2 A person begotten out of wedlock shall not enter into the assembly of the Lord; even to his tenth generation shall his descendants not enter into the congregation of the Lord.

Acts 19:19 AMPC
And many of those who had practiced curious, magical arts collected their books and [throwing them, book after book, on the pile] burned them in the sight of everybody. When they counted the value of them, they found it amounted to 50,000 pieces of silver ([about] $9,300).

Isaiah 53:5 AMPC
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.

Healing from Trauma and Emotional Wounds

Psalm 34:18 (AMPC)
The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart and saves such as are crushed with sorrow for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent.

2 Timothy 1:7 AMPC
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.

Isaiah 41:10 AMPC
Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.

The Power of Words and Identity in Christ

Proverbs 18:21 AMPC
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].

Ephesians 4:29 AMPC
Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it.

Philippians 4:8 AMPC
For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].

Hope in Times of Suffering and Loss

Matthew 5:4 AMPC
Blessed and enviably happy [with a happiness produced by the experience of God’s favor and especially conditioned by the revelation of His matchless grace] are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted!

Psalm 42:11 AMPC
Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the help of my countenance, and my God.

Exodus 15:26 AMPC
Saying, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord your God and will do what is right in His sight, and will listen to and obey His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon you which I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord Who heals you.

Repentance Prayer

[forgiveness prayer]

Heavenly Father, I repent of all sin, rebellion, and immorality in my life.

I choose to reject any involvement with [sin/occult/idolatry] and renounce every unhealthy spiritual influence from my life and my actions.

Father, I ask and receive your forgiveness and plead the Blood of Jesus over my life.

Prayer to Break Generational Curses

Heavenly Father, on behalf on my ancestors, up to the 4th and the 10th generation as per your word, I repent on behalf of my ancestors for all sin, rebellion, and immorality in their lives.

I renounce and cancel any evil agreement or covenant they made, in the name of Jesus.

Jesus, you paid the price for my and my ancestors’ sins on the cross and it’s more than enough.

Father, I plead the Blood of Jesus over my life.

In the name of Jesus, I fully renounce and break off all generational curses that have affected me.

Amen

*If there is a curse that doesn’t break right away, pray to break legal rights – see “Covenants Prayer

Prayer to Heal from Trauma

Father,

I choose as an act of my will to renounce and cancel any agreement or covenant I’ve made with any spirit that came through traumatic experiences or through my bloodline in the name of Jesus.

I declare that, by the blood of Jesus, every attack and legal right the enemy had against me has been broken right now in Jesus name.

Amen
