Understanding the 6 Models of Jesus’ Ministry
Before jumping into training, it’s helpful to understand the biblical pattern that shapes everything we do.
Many Christians feel, “If I look at resources outside my local church, I’m being disloyal.”
But Jesus discipled people in multiple environments — personal, small groups, homes, and corporate gatherings.
Your local church is essential and irreplaceable.
And God also equips His people through additional ministries that serve the church, not replace it.
Discovered Freedom Ministries is a para-church equipping movement created to strengthen believers and strengthen local churches.
Here are the 6 Models of Jesus’ Ministry, balanced in length and integrated with the church-honoring perspective you hold. (source)
1. Alone with God — Presence Before Power
Jesus continually withdrew to pray, listen, and receive direction from the Father.
This rhythm of intimacy was the wellspring of His ministry.
We teach believers to cultivate:
- daily prayer
- listening to the Holy Spirit
- fasting and consecration
- obedience from relationship
Every expression of ministry begins here.
2. The One — Personal Discipleship & the Person of Peace
Jesus ministered deeply to individuals: the Samaritan woman, Zacchaeus, the demoniac, Nicodemus.
We train believers to:
- recognize a “person of peace” (Luke 10)
- walk with one person intentionally
- disciple them through repentance, freedom, and obedience
Multiplication always begins with one.
3. The Three — Close Fellowship & Accountability
Jesus had Peter, James, and John — a circle of deeper trust, honesty, and shared growth.
We encourage believers to build a circle of two or three trusted friends who walk together in:
- prayer
- accountability
- encouragement
- discernment
Sustainable growth happens in trusted relationships.
4. The Twelve — Micro-Communities of Obedience
Jesus discipled a small group where followers could ask questions, practice obedience, and grow in spiritual maturity.
These weren’t replacements for the synagogue — they were relational training environments.
We help believers form micro-communities (alongside their local church) where they:
- practice prayer and evangelism
- study Scripture
- exercise spiritual gifts
- support each other in mission
This is where discipleship becomes lived, not just learned.
5. The 120 — The Local Church & Five-Fold Activation
The Upper Room gathering of the 120 represents the corporate body — the local church today.
The church is where Jesus gives the five-fold ministry to:
- equip the saints
- activate the Body
- unite believers
- send disciples to the nations
DFM does not replace the church.
We strengthen believers so they can serve, bless, and build their local church family.
6. The Multitude — Outreach & Kingdom Impact
Jesus ministered to crowds — healing the sick, casting out demons, preaching the Kingdom.
These moments were the overflow of everything that came before.
We equip believers to:
- share the gospel boldly
- pray for the sick
- minister deliverance
- hear God’s voice
- bring the Kingdom wherever they go
Discipleship leads to mission. Mission leads to multiplication.
Before we talk about equipping, the most important question is this: Have you begun a relationship with Jesus?
Haven’t Received Jesus Yet?
If you’ve never surrendered your life to Jesus, that’s the most important first step. Lasting discipleship starts with being born again.
You can begin your new life in Christ today—right where you are.
A Prayer to Receive Jesus
“Father God, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I confess that I have sinned and I need Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God—that He died on the cross for my sins and was resurrected on the third day. Today, I turn away from my old life and ask You to be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and teach me to follow You. I surrender everything to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
If you prayed this from your heart, welcome to the family of God! Please let us know when you reach out—we’d love to help you take your next steps.
Testimonies of Discipleship
We’ve seen Jesus:
- Draw believers into deeper intimacy and daily fellowship with Him
- Break old cycles and establish new habits of obedience
- Restore confidence, identity, and spiritual clarity
- Activate spiritual gifts in everyday people
- Empower believers to disciple others with boldness and love
These are not theoretical concepts.
They are real stories of transformation through simple obedience, biblical discipleship, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be part of a local church to go through this training?
Yes.
We are a para-church equipping ministry — which means we strengthen the Body of Christ, not replace it.
Your local church provides pastoral covering, community, sacraments, and long-term shepherding.
Our equipping helps you grow in spiritual maturity so you can serve, bless, and build your church more effectively.
Does this replace my church’s discipleship or leadership structure?
Not at all.
Many believers feel that exploring outside resources means they’re being disloyal — but Jesus discipled people in multiple settings: alone, in small groups, in homes, and in corporate gatherings.
Our role is to support your church by helping you:
- grow deeper in your walk with God
- cultivate holiness and freedom
- activate your gifts
- share the gospel
- minister healing, deliverance, and encouragement
Everything we teach flows back into the life of your local church, not away from it.
Do I need to complete the Core Discipleship Training first?
We strongly recommend it.
The Core Discipleship Training builds the foundation for everything else — knowing God, walking in freedom, discovering your calling, and living as a disciple who makes disciples.
Without that foundation, deliverance, evangelism, and prophetic equipping can become harder to sustain.
Starting with the core ensures that your spiritual growth is healthy, biblical, and fruitful.
Is this training safe, biblical, and balanced?
Yes.
All our equipping is rooted in Scripture, centered on Jesus, and led by the Holy Spirit — not emotion, hype, or sensationalism.
We emphasize:
- humility and accountability
- character before gifting
- discernment and testing everything by the Word
- ministry done in love, not pressure
- honoring the unity and authority of the local church
Our goal is not to create “independent ministers,” but Spirit-led disciples who reflect Jesus in character and power.
What happens after I finish a training path?
You’ll begin living the lifestyle of Jesus wherever God sends you — in your home, workplace, church, and community.
Most people experience growth in areas like:
- hearing God’s voice with clarity
- sharing the gospel with confidence
- praying for the sick
- ministering deliverance wisely
- walking in greater freedom
- discipling others through obedience and relationship
You’re welcome to continue into other equipping paths, join outreach opportunities, or participate in deliverance events as God leads.
No matter where you are on your journey—new believer, growing disciple, or maturing leader—there’s a next step that will help you grow in Jesus and strengthen your local church.
